Apr. 4--With less than two weeks to go before income-tax filings are due, the Legislature has approved new rules that could mean some Arizonans who already filed electronically may have paid more taxes than necessary.

The bill bringing Arizona's filing deadline into line with the federal deadline also brings the state income-tax code into compliance with the federal tax code. Congress enacted a bunch of changes last year in federal tax laws. But it has taken until now for state legislators to put an "us, too" provision in the law.
