NSW:Suspect refuses to answer Adams inquest

SYDNEY, Feb 2 AAP - A suspect in the 1978 disappearance of Sydney teenager Trudie Adams
has refused to answer any more questions at the inquest into her fate.

John Anderson, also known as Neville Tween, asked when the topic would get onto Ms
Adams, instead of questions about his criminal history including a sex attack on a man
in 1975.

When Anderson replied "no comment" to another question about the attack, deputy state
coroner Scott Mitchell adjourned the Glebe Coroner's Court hearing for almost two hours
on Wednesday.

"I've got all the time in the world," he said, ordering Anderson to be taken to the
cells until 2pm (AEDT).

"I do not care how long it takes ... I'm not going to be made a fool of."

Anderson, 70, who is serving an 11-year jail term for importing cocaine, has been giving
evidence at the inquest into the disappearance of 18-year-old Ms Adams, who was last seen
after midnight on June 25, 1978, leaving the Newport Surf Club on Sydney's northern beaches.

He has been named as a "person of interest" in Ms Adams' disappearance and also as
a suspect in the abduction and rape of a number of young women on the northern beaches
in the years around her disappearance.
